Trustees 7/24/09

The Trustee Committee, which meets regularly, reviews the maintenance, repairs, and physical needs of the church and property.  In order for the ministries of the congregation to be fulfilled, it is necessary that the property of the church is maintained.  The committee is entrusted to see the proper keeping of God’s house as a way to honor God and to enable the vision and ministry of the congregation.

As Chairman, I am responsible for guiding the work of the board throughout the year, planning the agendas, and presiding at meetings.  The chairperson also consults regularly with the pastor about property matters and participates fully in the church council.  The remaining trustees are comprised of volunteer congregation members who are expected to attend monthly trustee meetings and to assist with committee goals.

We recognize that our committee is looked upon to maintain our church facilities, but we are unable to complete all tasks.  We strive to ensure that projects undertaken by the trustees are done well and encourage volunteer participation so that we may guarantee the success of our activities.

Trustees (¶258.3 and ¶2524 to 2550): Effective Trustees are Christian stewards of the property God has entrusted to the congregation. Effective trustees supervise and maintain the property of your congregation to ensure that disciple-making ministries of the congregation are effective and that local legal requirements related to the property are satisfied. Spiritual gifts: servanthood, helping/assistance, administration, giving, and evangelism. Experience, Skills: Trustees should be people with knowledge and skills for property and asset management, have the ability to listen to and communicate with people of all ages, and work well with other ministry leaders. Trustees should show genuine interest in responding to the hopes and concerns of people in the community and a willingness to partner with community interests.
